Mrs. Iva Owens- 8th Grade Mathematics Teacher
Iva Owens joined ASTEC, Inc. in August of 2006 as an eighth grade mathematics teacher. She has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas and a master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University. Mrs. Owens has more than 15 years of teaching experience and is certified to teach secondary mathematics in Texas and Oklahoma. Prior to coming to ASTEC, she taught mathematics in Oklahoma City Public Schools and Dallas Public Schools. Mrs. Owens is ASTEC Charter Middle School’s 2008 Teacher of the Year.
Thanks to the generosity of ASTEC Charter Middle School, The Jordan Foundation, Best Buy Teacher Award and DonorsChoose.org, eighth grade math students have a more active role in the classroom and enjoy a mathematics experience strengthened by the use of responders or clickers, a SMART Board and graphing calculators.

Ms. Angela Dormiani- High School Social Studies Teacher
Angela Dormiani graduated from Choctaw High School in 1994 and went to college in Kansas City, MO at Rockhurst University where she graduated cum laude and from the Honors Program in 1998 with a major in History and a minor in Political Science.
She didn't decide to teach secondary social studies until she was working on her Masters in History at OU and working as a assistant manager at Borders Book Store in OKC. She came to ASTEC in 2002-2003 and has been here ever since. She is currently married and her only child is an 8 year-old cat. In Angela's spare time, she loves to travel, read and play tennis.
