High School English Department

Mrs. Bobbi Gore- High Schoool English Teacher

Bobbi Gore
is teaching both sophomore and junior English.  This is her first year teaching, and she is very excited about the opportunity to work at ASTEC.

Mrs. Gore graduated from The University of Oklahoma in the summer of 2007 with a degree in psychology.  She is alternatively certified to teach English, Psychology, and Elementary Education.  She is an avid reader, and an OU football fan.

Mrs. Gore and her husband have 17 pets, many of them rescue animals.  They range from dogs and a cat to an African Grey Parrot who performs his own touchdown cheer when OU scores.


Ms. Vickie Kastl- High School English Teacher

Vickie Kastl
will be teaching Advanced Placement Senior English, Advanced Placement Junior English, Sophomore English and Speech.

Ms. Kastl received her B.A. in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1976, and Advanced Placement English certification from the University of Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa. Ms. Kastl holds a Secondary and Primary English and Art Education Degree and has taught at the secondary level for thirty-three years.

Ms. Kastl and her husband, Tom, have raised four sons ages thirty to age twenty-two and they celebrated their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary this summer. In addition to her four sons, Ms Kastl dotes on her Tibetan Spaniel, Winnie Mae, and her grand-puppy, Ritchie, a Chinese Pug. Ms Kastl is an avid reader, illustrator, and OU sports enthusiast.

Ms. Kastl retired in May 2008, from Yukon Public Schools and is excited to be at ASTEC Charter School.


Mr. Chris Pratt- High School English

Chris Pratt attended Putnam City Original High School.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma City University with a B.A. in English/Education. During his time in college he also studied abroad at Edge Hill University in Ormskirk, England and traveled throughout Europe. After College, he taught 9th and 10th grade English at Putnam City West High School for 3 years. While at P.C. West, Mr. Pratt co-sponsored the robotics team and helped incorporate the use of Palm Pilots in the classroom. During his time at ASTEC he has taught 8th, 10th, 11th, and now 9th grade English as well as 8th Grade Explore, Drama, and General Business. His other duties have included Junior National Honor Society sponsor, Junior Class Sponsor, and after school Film Critics and Literature Club Teacher.  Mr. Pratt is happy to be back and looking forward to his Sixth year with ASTEC.


Dr. Bill Spaeth- High School English

Dr. Bill Spaeth
is starting his fourth year at Astec Charter School. He will be teaching PreAP English 9th and 10th level, Creative Writing, Sociology, and Yearbook.

Dr. Spaeth received his B.A. in English from Oklahoma State University in 1973. He earned his M.S. from O.S.U. in Secondary Education in 1975 and an Ed.D. in Education Administration in 1990.

Dr. Spaeth is certified as an Elementary teacher, Secondary teacher, Reading Specialist, Elementary Principal, and Superintendent.

Dr. Spaeth has taught at the elementary, middle school, high school and college level. He has served as an adjunct professor at Oklahoma State University, Southwest Oklahoma State University, and Southern Nazarene University teaching courses in School Administration and Advanced Psychology.

After retiring from a career as a school administrator, Dr. Spaeth has started a second career as a classroom teacher. His wife, Cleda, is also a retired teacher and they have one grown son. His hobbies and interests include fishing, camping, skiing, and reading.
