In addition to teaching, Mr. Lynch was chosen to attend “School Improvement Plan Writing” training in Washington, D.C., in order to chair his middle school’s research, progress, and improvement plan committees. He has also served as English Department Chair for many years and been responsible for writing curriculum and aligning it with the Arkansas State Frameworks.

Ms. MeLynn Massey- 6th Grade Explore Teacher

MeLynn Massey was born in Wichita, Kansas but grew up in the Rose Hill, Kansas school district.  Following graduation, she pursued a degree Business and Communication and graduated May 2001.    She moved to Oklahoma in order to teach and finished her M.S. in Teaching, Learning and Leadership with an emphasis in Special Education past spring, from Oklahoma State University.

This is MeLynn’s second year teaching at ASTEC, in which she will teach 6th Grade Explorer and after school drama.  She will still also remain over the Special Services at the Middle School level.

MeLynn was a Paraprofessional in Pittsburg, Kansas for a year and has substitute taught in several school districts in Kansas and Oklahoma for the past eight.   She was a youth leader for several years; all of these have given her the opportunity to learn a great deal about teaching.  Through these experiences she has been able to develop several new techniques for the students to get involved in their studies so that they are motivated to do it right, along with getting it done in a timely manner.   She believes that it does take time to develop these relationships and to learn how to effectively work with a diverse student population.  MeLynn also believes that all children can learn how to be independent and think on their own.  They just need to take responsibility for their actions and their learning behaviors.

Her dog, Samson, greets her every evening after school.  He is a Chihuahua/ Dachshund and has one ear that sticks up.  Everyone thinks this is adorable.
