Mr. Steve Moore- High School Psychology
Steve Moore as born in Omaha Nebraska to a career Air Force officer. Much of childhood memories consisted of moving from one remote and desolate base to another where a young boy didn't have much to do. After his father retired from the Air Force the family had moved to Albuquerque New Mexico where Mrs. Moore was originally from. Steve finally was able to establish roots and have a semblance of an ordinary adolescence. High school consisted of football and graduation with an undecided career path. Steve has always been interested in the darker side of human behavior so studying psychology at the University of New Mexico seemed like a natural fit. The original plan was to complete graduate school and enter into forensic psychology. As time went on and money ran out, Steve then became interested in the study and treatment of sex offenders. Given an opportunity to intern at an adolescent treatment center where assessment, treatment and community supervision was emphasized a new and exciting aspect to psychology was launched.
After graduate school Steve was offered a position as program director of a twenty five bed juvenile sex offender program where he also cultivated a private practice focusing on adolescent sex offenders. After the birth of their daughter, Paige, Steve and Donita came to the conclusion that life was moving too fast and decided to move to Oklahoma in may of 2007 where family ties and a slower pace seemed to be the best answer to a very complicated scenario. Now the world from Norman seems to make a little more sense.

Mr. Mario Roldan- High School Spanish Teacher
Mario Roldan joined ASTEC in July 2007 and is one of the newest members of the faculty. He earned his B.A. in Philology, otherwise known as Spanish Linguistics and Literature, from the University of Costa Rica. Before becoming a Spanish teacher in ASTEC, he tutored students in all levels of educations, has taught in the Upward Bound Program in Oklahoma, and is a current faculty member of the Modern Languages Department at the University of Central Oklahoma. An educator proud of his profession, his main goal is to inspire others to learn foreign languages, particularly Spanish. However, his approach not only encompasses the traditional grammar and spelling, but also the culture and literature that make up the Latin American and Spanish identities. While Mr. Roldan misses his home and the beaches in Costa Rica, he has learned to appreciate and enjoy the differences between both countries. An avid reader, he prefers spending time at different bookstores and public libraries, particularly the Edmond Public Library where he feels at home.
