Mr. Mario Roldan- Middle School Spanish Teacher
Mario Roldan joined ASTEC in July 2007 and is one of the newest members of the faculty. He earned his B.A. in Philology, otherwise known as Spanish Linguistics and Literature, from the University of Costa Rica. Before becoming a Spanish teacher in ASTEC, he tutored students in all levels of educations, has taught in the Upward Bound Program in Oklahoma, and is a current faculty member of the Modern Languages Department at the University of Central Oklahoma. An educator proud of his profession, his main goal is to inspire others to learn foreign languages, particularly Spanish. However, his approach not only encompasses the traditional grammar and spelling, but also the culture and literature that make up the Latin American and Spanish identities. While Mr. Roldan misses his home and the beaches in Costa Rica, he has learned to appreciate and enjoy the differences between both countries. An avid reader, he prefers spending time at different bookstores and public libraries, particularly the Edmond Public Library where he feels at home.
